“I have worked with Tami Bauers for over 15 years. She served on the Seward Co-op Board of Directors when the decision was made to move our store and expand along the Franklin Avenue corridor. After her term ended, I hired Tami to lead our member capital campaign. Her understanding of retail operations and the difficult challenges boards face in committing to a large project, uniquely qualified Tami for this position._

“Our goal was to raise $1.5 million dollars through member investments as part of our $10.5 million project. She attained this goal by successfully building a strong partnership between operational staff and the Board of Directors. The employee training program she constructed helped the staff talk effectively about the complex concept of Member Investment and its critical importance in cooperation. The support she provided board members was essential for them to engage with members, promote investment and build consensus around the wisdom of our relocation. On January 8, 2009 Seward Co-op opened its doors to its new store. This could not have been done with out the thorough team building approach Tami used to raise the necessary member investments.”

“I have had the pleasure and the privilege of working with Tami in a variety of capacities throughout her career in co-ops. She has a unique ability to connect with people and infuse them with her passion for the co-op model and the values we represent.

“Tami’s customer service trainings with our staff were exceptional. She reached both seasoned veterans and brand new staff with her message of the importance of meeting customer needs in an effective training that was engaging and to the point, without coming off as either corny or “corporate.” Tami understands the meaning of membership. Her trainings give staff tools to talk about membership with customers, and help them deliver complex messages in an accessible manner. Tami’s commitment to co-ops gains her the respect of the people she works with: staff, boards and customers alike.”
